The Accounts and Audit Manager will provide accounting, auditing and taxation services to clients and be responsible for compliance with policies and procedures to enable the Audit and Accounts function to work productively and efficiently.

The Accounts and Audit Manager will provide accounting, auditing and taxation services to clients and be responsible for compliance with policies and procedures to enable the Audit and Accounts function to work productively and efficiently. They will allocate work appropriately to ensure the team is fully utilised and their skills developed.

The key responsibilities for this Accounts and Audit Manager role will include:

  • Split of time between 60% accounts 30% audit, and 10% tax 
  • Reporting directly to the Partners of the Practice and liaising with other managers
  • Management of a portfolio of clients
  • Managing a small number of audit assignments from planning to sign-off
  • Planning, supervision and review of statutory accounts including preparing notes for Partners. This includes liaising directly with clients and Partners and taking responsibility for each assignment from planning to completion.
  • Assist the outsourcing team with technical matters and work alongside the outsourcing team to bring jobs through from bookkeeping, VAT returns and management accounts to statutory accounts production.
  • The ability to prepare and supervise the preparation of financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Assisting and managing staff with technical accounting issues.
  • Actively training more junior members of the team (both in UK office and outsourced staff) and adding value to their development
  • Preparation of business tax computations using the support of the tax team where required, strong awareness of corporate tax matters

The Successful candidate for this role will be/have:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in a similar practice based role
  • Experience as an Accounts and Audit senior
  • Strong knowledge of accounting (including incomplete records), bookkeeping, VAT and corporate tax.
  • Experience using IRIS accounting suite
  • Confidence and understanding of the functionality of the main bookkeeping packages used in the market (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage)
  • A confident approach in identifying efficient processes to support clients with their accounting, record keeping and exchange of information, through the latest and most appropriate technologies.
  • Able to deal confidently and effectively with clients, staff and partners
  • Able to provide on the job training for staff as appropriate, identifying training needs and ensuring appropriate support is provided as needed.
